Several trail closures in effect on Grindstone Ranger District

WILLOWS, Calif; January 4, 2017 – For Immediate Release – Mendocino National Forest  District officials have implemented several off-highway vehicle (OHV) trail closures on the Grindstone Ranger District until the trails can be repaired. The trails are located south of the Summit Springs Trailhead and south of Letts Lake.

Trails included in the order are: 85311, 85312, 85345, 85354 and 85356. Officials deemed this closure necessary for resource protection until treads and drainage structures are repaired to withstand additional OHV traffic. The closure may remain in effect untilJanuary 2, 2018.

Racers under the Son North in conjunction with the Joyce Tsuchiyama Family Fund of InFaith Community Foundation is offering youth sponsorship’s for the AMA District 36, 2017 Spring youth racing season. These sponsorship’s will cover all or part of the entry fees for the spring season cross country races. They are available to any youth racer 15 and under and not limited by financial need.
The deadline for applications is Monday January 2 2017.

To Apply:  Submit an essay about good sportsmanship and why it is important in amateur racing. Please include your age and the class in which you will ride in spring 2017. It is vital you include your mailing address and the name of an adult to whom we can make a check payable.

The Final Round of the MMX Triple Threat Cross
Country Series is here this weekend.  

The race is featuring a $2000 purse and 75% Pro Payback.  Points calculated from this race combined with the spring and fall MMX races will determine the MMX Triple Threat Series year-end awards.

Rounds 1 & 2 of this series were also rounds in the 2016 District 36 Championship Cross Country Series, however this race is not part of that series but instead is the final round in the MMX Stand-alone series.  While there will be no championship points in the District 36 Championship Series, this race is a District 36 race that will award Advancement Points.
