New! Ask Congress to Oppose Prohibitive Tariffs on Certain European Motorcycles!<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The USTR Comment Period is Closed \u2013 Now Weigh In with Congress!<\/strong><\/p>\n

As ARRA previously alerted you, the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) is considering tariffs on agricultural products that could inappropriately impact a segment of motorcycles imported from Europe.\u00a0 Thank you for taking action by submitting comments to the USTR.\u00a0 Now, it is time to contact Congress!<\/p>\n

\nTake Action and send an email to your Senators and Representative<\/a> urging them to oppose the inclusion of certain motorcycles in a trade dispute over agricultural products.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Background:<\/p>\n

Smaller displacement mopeds and motorcycles from EU countries could be subjected to import duties that would raise costs to consumers, or, worse yet, potentially make it cost prohibitive for manufacturers to even import these motorcycles.\u00a0\u00a0 All of this is over a trade dispute involving the beef industry!<\/p>\n

USTR has announced a public hearing on February 15, 2017 in Washington, DC in connection with the request of representatives of the U.S. beef industry to reinstate action against the European Union (EU) pursuant to Section 306(c) of the 1974 Trade Act relating to the World Trade Organization (WTO) dispute settlement rulings in the EU \u2013 Beef Hormones dispute. Included on the list of products under consideration for new imposition of increased duties are motorcycles (including mopeds) over 50 cc but not over 500 cc from member States of the European Union. Most of the other products proposed are agricultural products.<\/p>\n
