For several decades, the District 36 Legislative Action Office (LAO) has fought for your right to ride and enjoy OHV recreation on public lands. Often those efforts include going to court to defend those rights against the closure agenda of anti-access organizations.<\/span><\/p>\n

The purpose of this update is to highlight an important alpine route that was reopened in 2018 due to a joint legal effort with the California Association of 4 Wheel Drive Clubs, California Enduro Riders Association, and the BlueRibbon Coalition\/Sharetrails.org.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Schneider Cow Camp or Strawberry Trail was one of the 42 high-elevation OHV routes on the Eldorado National Forest that were closed by court order last July.\u00a0<\/span><\/td>\n

\u00a0Our legal fight to defend those historic trails resulted in the Forest\u2019s eventual \u201cconditional\u201d designation of affected routes pending mitigation measures which include armoring wet trail segments, protecting meadows from vehicle incursion, and doing reroutes.<\/span><\/p>\n
