Please Support Legislation to Overturn EPA Racecar Regulation

While the below alert from ORBA address’s converting street cars to race cars, the attempt by the EPA to do this will also affect OHV.  It will follow that one buys a street legal bike but can’t use if for racing.  Say one puts on knobbies or maybe takes off the mirrors…Oops, it’s now converted for a use other than intended as a street bike.
Do you have five minutes to spare?  Please take action  in letting your voice be heard that you support the “Recognizing the Protection of Motorsports Act of 2016” (RPM Act).

Please support Legislation to Overturn EPA Racecar Regulation and our friends at SEMA by contacting your legislator. This is important to our industry.

Congress Introduces Bill to Ensure that Motor Vehicles May Be Modified Into Racecars

U.S. Reps. Patrick McHenry (R-NC), Henry Cuellar  (D-TX), Richard Hudson (R-NC), Bill Posey (R-FL) and Lee Zeldin (R-NY) have introduced the bipartisan “Recognizing the Protection of Motorsports Act of 2016” (RPM Act), which makes clear that it has always been legal to modify a street vehicle into a racecar used exclusively at the track. The practice was unquestioned until last year when the EPA proposed a new regulation which would make this activity illegal. SEMA supports the RPM Act and urges you to do so as well.

A Message From Tim Fish

As most of you know, Tim Fish, a 16 year old District 36 Member and Cross Country racer recently had his race bike stolen from the family garage while they slept in the home.  We just receive a personal message from Tim and while it’s addressed to District 36, it’s really meant for all the District 36 family…..

Dear District 36

As some of you already know, our home was recently broken into, and my dirt bike was taken. The past few weeks have be really hard on myself as well as my parents. But our racing family has been such a huge support through it all.

After my sister reached out on behalf of myself and my parents through Go Fund Me, the support and care found its way throughout the District. The donations came in from our close racing friends as well as from some who we have never met and got to know personally, but heard the name a few times.

To each and every person who donated; I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I have a very good understanding of what it means and know that money is hard earned. Every little bit helped in a bigger way that I even know to express in words.

I would like to take a moment to sit and truly show my personal appreciation and gratitude to all who donated, called, wrote, prayed, and expressed concern for us through this time. It’s overwhelming to know that we are surrounded by so much love and kindness.

This District is truly so much more than a group of people meeting up to race. It’s a Family. A family that makes sure every racer has all that they need. A family who I can say has picked me up, dusted me off, and put me back on a bike so I never missed a beat.

Again, I thank you. And I don’t know how else to put it other than I love my District 36 Family and am so proud to be a part of something so incredible. I will forever be grateful and I love you all.

Tim Fish.

Wild Piglet Enduro Postponed

The Timekeepers Wild Piglet, Round 1 of the D36 SRT Championship Youth Enduro Series, originally scheduled for Saturday March 5st has been postponed by the Hollister Hills SVRA due to a forecast of heavy rainfall this weekend. Unfortunately, the Adobe and Renz portions of the park that we utilize for this event are very sensitive to rain and become inaccessible by emergency vehicles when the ground is too wet.

We are working with Hollister Hills SVRA and District 36 to reschedule the event as soon as possible. Thank you to all that pre-entered and planned to attend. We will provide updates as soon as we get an official reschedule date. We will hold your pre-entry and row position unless we hear otherwise from you.

We know this is a disappointment to many of you and we apologize for the inconvenience, but the weather is obviously not something we can control.

Oakland MC Wins AMA Recognition

AMA Press Release heading

Feb. 15, 2016

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Media contact: James Holter
Phone: (614) 856-1900, ext. 1280
E-mail: jholter@ama-cycle.org

Note this one part of an AMA Press Release titled:

2016 American Motorcyclist Association Awards recipients announced

 Friend of the AMA Award
The Friend of the AMA Award recognizes one or more in the motorcycling community, including clubs, companies, sponsors and/or partners that have strongly supported the AMA mission and programs. For 2016, the AMA Board of Directors selected three recipients, one being the Oakland Motorcycle Club.

In 2007, the Oakland Motorcycle Club, AMA charter No.72, celebrated 100 years of continuous operation as an organization dedicated to supporting the sport of motorcycle riding. The OMC’s members are a diverse group of men and women who own a wide variety of motorcycles, including street, dual-sport and dirt bikes. The club has a long tradition of organizing and participating in all types of motorcycle events, including enduros, hillclimbs, track racing, and long-distance tours. The club is also known for its outreach to other clubs and riding organizations.

“The Oakland Motorcycle Club is greatly appreciative of being awarded the prestigious 2016 Friend of the AMA Award,” said club president Bill Espinola. “Throughout the 109-year existence of our club, the programs and goals of the AMA have been diligently supported not only through the sponsorship of untold numbers of sanctioned events, but also through our efforts to be an asset and good neighbor to the general community.

“We believe this form of brotherhood and outreach contributes greatly to a positive image of motorcycling as a whole,” Espinola said. “We are delighted to be recognized for our efforts and we thank the AMA for all it does for the advancement of the motorcycling community.”
