RIM FIRE DISASTER “Why A Spark Arrestor Is Needed On Public Lands”

Dear District 36 Members,

As fire season is upon us, I want to remind you that you absolutely MUST have a clean, working SPARK ARRESTOR on your motorcycle when you ride on public lands. This year is shaping up to be a very bad fire season, and we as the OHV community must be conscious of this danger as we ride on public lands.

The devastation of our natural resources, including those on the USFS and BLM areas where we ride and recreate, by a fire of this magnitude is shown at the link below (the Rim Fire was NOT started by an OHV user).  Please take a minute to view this, and then share with as many of your friends that ride you can.

For those of you that have been to the Stanislaus NF know what I am saying here, let along the destruction to our favorite trails and riding area. If you see somebody without a spark arrestor, get on their case.  That person can possibly ruin the environment where we recreate and take our families.

Thanks for reading this, and viewing this short film.  It WILL open your eyes. Upon opening the

Link, read the short paragraph about groups coming together in collaborative manner.

It is forging relationships among those that were enemies at one time.  Jerry Fouts, D36 President, was part of the YSS process, along with Mike Demaso from Merced Dirt Riders Motorcycle Club

Special Thanks to Don Amador, BRC & Quiet Warrior Racing, and partner of District 36 and D36 LAO for sending this along after receiving from the RAC (Recreational Advisory Committee).

49er Family Enduro Postponed

The Polka Dot’s Motorcycle club regrets to report that the 49er Youth / Family Enduro, scheduled for this Saturday May 9, 2015, has been postponed.

The postponement was decided on and directed to the club by the U.S. Forest Service as the result of rain yesterday, last night and again predicted for Friday.  Due to very strict Forest Service rules applied to organized meets there is a 72 hour “drying out” period after it rains a certain amount.

The “Dot’s” are very disappointed at this development (rained out in the middle of an extended drought) and will notify us as soon as they decide on a reschedule date, if possible.

Show Your Support For Reopening Clear Creek!

The below action alert was recently received by us from Don Amador of the BlueRibbon Coalition.  The Distrct 36 LAO Office has worked along side the BRC in the ongoing battle to reopen Clear Creek, one of the premier riding areas in the United States.  We urge you to join us in sending, via email or fax, letters of support to the legislators that have taken action to reopen Clear Creek.  Review the BRC Action Alert below for details on how you can show your support!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 BRC-Clear Creek Action Alert
NATIONAL CALL TO ACTION!
SEND SUPPORT LETTERS FOR H.R. 1838 – LET’S RE-OPEN CLEAR CREEK!
Dear BRC Action Alert Subscriber,
On April 16, California Representatives David G. Valadao (CA-21), Sam Farr (CA-21), and Jeff Denham (CA-10) introduced H.R. 1838, the Clear Creek National Recreation Area and Conservation Act, to direct the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) to reopen the 75,000 acre Clear Creek Management Area in San Benito and Fresno counties for recreational use, including access for off-road vehicles. Additionally, the legislation would protect approximately 21,000 acres of BLM land adjacent to Clear Creek as the Joaquin Rocks Wilderness.
BRC is asking OHV recreationists, businesses, conservation groups, environmental organizations, clubs, and local government to express your strong support for H.R. 1838.  Dirt Rider Magazine once listed Clear Creek as one of the top ten OHV riding areas in the country.  The congressional representatives listed below should be commended for their hard work in crafting this comprehensive bi-partisan legislation.
Clear Creek National Recreation Area and Conservation Act
Great news, the Clear Creek National Recreation Area and Conservation Act was reintroduced today by Congressman Sam Farr (D Salinas), Congressman David Valadao (R Coalinga) and Congressman Jeff Denham (R Modesto).  HR 1838 would be a great victory for all OHV activity.  The Bill would also provide an area adjacent to the Clear Creek area as wilderness. This compromise will greatly enhance the possibility of non-partisan support that should help in the passage of this historic bill. Please contact your Federal representative to express your support.
