Race Report Fast Times Promotions Quincy, CA 07/27/2024

A big track, big turnout, and the stands packed with over 700 spectators in attendance.  The flat track race was a big attraction for fair goers in Quincy, CA.  The track was fast with a nice wide groove that set the stage for some great main event racing.  The first race was the Pee-Wee class’s that combined classes 1,2, and 4 together with 125E James Weltzin wining the 50cc Pee-Wee Class 1 for the second week in a row, 156E Ryder Meiring winning the 50cc Pee-Wee Class 2, and 279Y Eloise Hedrick winning the 50cc Pee-Wee Class 4 (XR/PW50s).

The 50cc Pee-Wee Class 3 (Fast 50s), always an exciting race to watch didn’t disappoint with 156E Ryder Meiring claiming the win over hard charger 125E James Weltzin.

The framer shootout class was led by 28W Kage Tadman for about ¾ of the race when it looked like the bike sputtered a bit during the final laps.  301G Brandon Weller was able to take the lead with only a few laps to go.  Austin Scaggs would round out the top 3 on his Ron Wood Honda 450.  It’s great to see the traditional framer motorcycles competing again.

With lap times overlapping some of the fastest laps on the track, the 85cc class was flowing at a blistering pace. 114D Oliver Cox starting from the back row took the lead coming off of turn 2 on lap 1 with 116V Jackson Brown and 142E Brody Davis in second and 3rd.  Brody took over the 2nd place position on lap three entering turn one.  Cox the leader rode a mistake free race and gave little opportunity for Davis to make up any time.  The Open A class better keep an eye these kids as they will for sure be real contenders on the big bikes.

One of the most exciting races of the night was the Open Singles class.  This class has some of the fastest up and coming riders in our sport and did not disappoint.  17k Jett Katarzy, making his 450 debuts worked his way from 4th to first by turn three and got a little squirrelly off turn 4 on lap one.  Jett rained it in and rode a solid race while 132M Mason Smith and 108G Jeffry Wells battled for 2nd and 3rd with Smith taking the second place finish.

Celebrating 26 years where it all started. The Running of the bulls had 32P Dan Cahoon lead from start to finish with a gap for most of the race.  However, on the last lap 25W Curtis Peebles and 519V Michael Inderbitzen closed about a 5 bike length gap and the result was a photo finish for the top three spots with Cahoon 1st, Peebles 2nd, and Inderbitzen 3rd.  That got a standing ovation from the crowd.

In the Fast Times Money race 519V Michael Inderbitzen got the hole shot and led wire to wire.  28W Kage Tadman worked his way through the pack and caught up to the back wheel of Inderbitzen.  301G Brandon Weller kept a fast pace to secure a 3rd place finish. Inderbitzen won the Dash for cash and the Open A race with Meiring chasing in second and Tadman finishing 3rd.

Race Report – Lodi Cycle Bowl 7/20/2024

The heat from the day helped to get plenty of rubber down on the track making the blue/black groove wide, tacky, and fast for the Main Events.  Even with the heat the stands had more spectators than we have seen in a while, so with great food and drinks at the snack bar along with great racing it was a perfect race day for both spectators and racers!

Fan Appreciation Payout!

The first show was the short track shootout with 81C Dennis King winning the Stockton Powersports $100.00 gift certificate.  The dash for cash had a first-time winner with Jaymes Arnaiz grabbing the hole shot and keeping about a bike length lead for the 4-lap race.

The race of the night was a photo finish in the Pee Wee class as they ran 10 laps on the big ¼ mile track.  Number 411 Tatin Davis and 125 James Weltzin were neck and neck the whole 10 laps with Tatin Davis winning by about a half a bike length.  The 85cc class was a close one also with 42 Brody Davis winning over 73E Oliver Cox.  For 10 laps you could have thrown a small blanket over those two!   The win moved Brody to within one point of Oliver for the 85cc championship.

The Master A class had 14 riders geared up for a great race.  Marvin Lewis rode the class for the very first time on a GasGas he just bought a few months ago.  Marvin got the hole shot after a few riders were sent to the penalty line for jumping the start and succeeded in holding off a hard charging Jeff Mason to take the win.

In the Vintage 50+ race Fast Freddy Bennett took the hole shot with Dan Cahoon passing him on the first lap.  Undaunted, Freddy made a hard charge and was on Cahoon’s rear fender the rest of the race.

The Lodi Money race was exciting to watch as 25Y Brandon Weller took the hole shot and led for a few laps before BP1 Tony Meiring and 27 Jaymes Arnaiz found a way around him.  The Open A main was a great race with 33 Christian Spurgeon getting the hole shot and keeping a good cushion for the rest of the race with Meiring and Arnaiz taking 2nd and 3rd respectively.  Meiring made a few charges but maintained a solid 2nd place.  The racers to watch in this class was the 4th and 5th places of Holland and Weller neck and neck the whole race with Holland taking the 4th place finish.

The races ended around 8:30, just about dusk…… What a great night of racing!

Fools Gold Sprint Enduro Postponed!

CERA and the Timekeepers MC regret to announce that the Fools Gold Sprint Enduro scheduled to run Sunday May 5th has been cancelled due to Rain Restrictions imposed by the USFS.  We will announce the reschedule date as soon as we can.

Anyone pre-entered will retain their place and anyone pre-entered wanting a refund please contact Chris Kim at me@chrishkim.com.  Be sure to give him your full name, riding class and assigned riding number.

As we have all come to know, Rain Restrictions are a bane to OHV racing and riding.  However, because we have come to love this sport, getting put off is akin to a coming upon a fallen tree blocking the trial. We will eventually find a way to continue on.

Thank your for support and patience!
