District 36 Meeting Notice and Information.

As we have all seen, the normal District 36 Meetings have been cancelled and/or postponed since the start of the COVID Pandemic with the state and counties mandates banning group gatherings.  We do apologize for any inconvenience this has caused our members.

We also what to assure everyone that the District 36 Board of Directors and other officials have been hard at it all along working by phone and video meetings via the Zoom Platform.  The efforts have produced results in that the first GP race of the series has ran at MMX Racing in Marysville with over 300 riders showing up to race.

The Board of Directors has decided to continue with video meetings on the Zoom platform until the state and or counties allow gatherings and to that…. Here is the July meeting announcement:

District 36 will be having the next meeting on July 29th (postponed from the 15th) via the Zoom Platform.  Zoom is a free app and simple to use.  It will allow for participation by clubs, committeemen, and members.  I encourage you to download it before next Wednesday if you plan on participating. We will attempt to live stream the meeting to Facebook.  If any technical issues prevent that, we will post the recording afterwards.

A  Zoom video meeting link will be posted this week, but please mark your calendars!

Thank you,
Rebekah Burchard
District 36 Secretary

Adventure Bike & Dual Sport Bike Ride Cancelled

To all of our Stewards Members and Supporters

It is with a heavy heart that the Stewards have come to the point that we will need to cancel our 11th Annual Membership Drive Adventure Bike & Dual Sport Ride for the 2020 season.  Due to Covid-19 and the new California restriction on gathering of more than 10 people we just could not find a way to move the event forward for this year.  I want to thank everyone of our supporters for calling to see if we will go or not right down to the last minute.

I would also like to encourage all of you to go to our website and become a donating member to help support the work we do to keep your Roads and Trails open for you and your families enjoyment.  Without your support we would not be able to perform the removal of thousands of downed trees blocking the Roads and Trails you love to ride or to provide the thousands of volunteer hours we put in to keep your trails open and in great shape.

With a simple donation of $10.00 per month for a single person or $25.00 per month for a family you can help the Stewards maintain the level of access to the Sierra National Forest you enjoy today.  We hope that you will take the time to invest a little of your hard earned money to help the Stewards keep your roads and trails open.

We look forward to seeing each and everyone of you out on the trails and to seeing you again at our events in 2021.  Everyone please be safe out there and enjoy what your National Forests have to offer.

D36 LAO LEGISLATIVE UPDATE – SB 1024

Without State Senator Brian Jones’ leadership with SB 1024, CARB’s new regulations adopted in 2019 to sunset the Red Sticker Program would mean that the use of competition dirt-bikes for racing and practice would be restricted to private MX tracks like Glen Helen. Racing and practice riding on public lands such as SVRAs and BLM/FS units would be a thing of the past. It was a sport killer. Huge kudos to Senator Jones (who is an avid OHVer) for this effort!  Next step is Senate Appropriations Committee hearing on June 9.   There is still a lot of work to do but getting over this first hurdle was a major accomplishment.  This legislation continues to be one of the most important issues for the LAO Program.

Thanks to those who have worked hard on and/or supported this legislation.

Dirt Track Racing Postponed Through June

With the announcement that Dirt Track Racing has postponed through June it’s going to be a very busy late summer/fall season for all District 36 competition Series. While this may place a hardship on both competitor and promoter as well as District 36 officials that come out to support our racing series it’s like coming up to a stop sign behind someone that just sits there. They just need to be told that the Sign only means Stop —– not give up.  So we’re at that proverbial stop sign but not about to give up!

Please keep in mind that District 36 is an all volunteer organization and we remain strong as we anticipate and look forward to a full and rewarding program for all very soon. In a few short months for Cross Country and Enduro and a much shorter time for Dirt Track we will all be back to racing!

Stay Safe and Get Ready!

District 36 and the COVID-19 Virus

From the desk of the District 36 Sanctioning Stewards office (well my kitchen table). As you have seen events are postponing due to the Covid-19 virus. Most all of the spring District 36 events have. Keep an eye on the website schedules for any changes or updates.

It is looking like the Fall schedules will be a bit packed with lots of back to back weekends due to all the reschedules. I look forward to all the back to back weekends with my D 36 Enduro family.

I recommend that all members be good citizens and follow all the Covid-19 guidelines set forth by County, State and Federal agencies. I trust that all Clubs and promoters will make the proper decisions in regards to operating their events. With different agencies having different estimated dates of when it might ease up it is unknown how many more events may postpone or when we can hold events again.

All these guidelines are for your protection and the protection of all your family, friends and neighbors. For me it is time to hunker down and practice good decontamination protocols (Yes I am retired military). Plus I am getting a lot of at home projects completed.

Please be patient and safe. Plus make decisions that will not add to the problem.
