Hangtown Motocross Volunteers Needed!

Hangtown MotoCross:  September 11, 2021

Dear Volunteer;

I am recruiting volunteers for Hangtown 2021. Many of you have been so very loyal and come back every year for the fun! We appreciate you more than you know. This event would never happen without volunteers. Our event is growing at a fast pace and we are looking for more people interested in working our event.

COVID GUIDELINES -State of California and the CDC recommend that you have been vaccinated to work at the event. You will be exposed to a large number of people. If you are not, it is recommended that you wear a mask when in the crowds. There will be a space on the form to check.

If you are interested, please email or snail mail this packet back to hangtownworker@gmail.com or to Pam Santin 4763 Union Mine Road El Dorado CA 95623. We try to have all of our crews up and finalized by   9/05/21 so get the form back asap. We need workers who can commit to at least 2 days. If you have done “Wheels on the Ground” for Saturday, let us know on the form. Ryan Gouldthread is the track crew coordinator and will decide who has these positions for Saturday. We are lucky with so many good people to choose from!!

We have had problems with people signing up to work, taking the passes and tickets and then being seen in the infield as a spectator. Enough said, we know who you are, you will not work at our event. *** IF you are wearing a worker shirt of any type near the track, NO ALCOHOL- even in the food/lunch prep area!! This was an issue last year and will not be tolerated again.

Shirts will be handed out for you to wear during the event. Keep in mind this is a nationally televised event, so try to look sharp! Best image forward. We always have the best crews and are well respected by the AMA and MX Sports. If somehow you did not get a shirt, ask and someone will get you set up. I love seeing all of you when we watch the event on TV!!   A sheet for flaggers from MX Sports will be emailed at a later date

 There will be people who can cover for breaks. Water stations are located all around the track as well as someone roving with water and other drinks. We also provide you with a nice lunch each day you are working. There will also be a dinner for the workers. I will email that info when we are closer to the event.

**PLEASE DO NOT VOLUNTEER IF YOU HAVE ANY INJURIES OR DISABILITIES OR MEDICAL CONDITIONS THAT PREVENT YOU FROM DOING THIS JOB IN A COMPLETELY SAFE MANNER. NO CASTS, BRACES, CRUTCHES OR CANES OF ANY TYPE. NO VISUAL LIMITATIONS. WE DO REQUIRE THAT YOU HAVE HEALTH INSURANCE COVERAGE.

Hangtown would never happen without all the workers before, during and after the event. You are a valuable asset to us and we appreciate all you do. Please share the form with people who may want to work!  MUST be 16 or over.

Best regards,

Pam Santin, Crew Coordinator for DDNMC

MMX Dirt Track Race scheduled for July 10th Cancelled!

MMX Racing has announced that their Short Track Race, Round 15 of the District 36 Championship Dirt Track Series has been cancelled for this weekend due to a forecasted high  température of 114 °.  In racing safety is paramount and while disappointment comes with any cancellation there is no question that these extreme conditions call for this cancellation.

It was not reported to us if there will be a replacement race so watch the District 36 website for more details when and if they become available.

OHMVR History Bulletin

For many Americans, getting out into nature to recreate with family and friends is an important and time-honored tradition. Motorized recreation is often part of that tradition, whether driving on backcountry roads to get to a trail or camping spot, camping in recreation vehicles (RVs), riding of-highway vehicles (OHVs) or a combination of all three. In California, many of these destinations are part of California State Parks’ Of-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation (OHMVR) Program or are OHV areas supported through the OHMVR Grants Program.

California’s OHMVR Program will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2021. Legislation, first enacted in 1971 and
expanded since then, ensures that OHV opportunities in California are managed to sustain and protect areas for long-term motorized recreation…..Read full story……
